Chalk + LA Beatdown
A few weeks ago, Chalk was asked to be a featured artists during an LA Beatdown event. So, we concepted a few ideas, got to building and headed to The Music Box in Hollywood to setup up our spot. Throughout the night we gave people the opportunity to get creative, providing event-goers with an array of chalk boards ranging from an 8′x8′ wall to a gang of differently shaped masks.
Everyone was encouraged to use their imagination and bring the blank boards to life. It was great to see how creative people get when they’re given the opportunity. We’re looking forward to more projects and installations like this in the future.
Chalk + Venice Art Walk Skate Surf Auction
Just days before the Venice Art Walk Skate Surf Auction, Chalk was invited to enter some pieces in to it. The timing was pretty perfect, since we had a couple of blank decks lying around the shop and had already been thinking about what to create with them. Within a few hours each deck was underway. At the end of the next day, they were all completed. With a few hours to spare, we headed to the Track 16 gallery in Santa Monica to get them all hung before the auction began. Each board was a hit and all five of them sold, raising over $1,000 for the Venice Family Clinic.

Wolfrule Opening Night
Our featured artist is local Venice legend, Jeff Cook. His latest body of work is an impressive number of handmade wooden sculptures formed from beautiful exotic woods, overlaid with starkly precise computational patterns, melding the rich visual interplay between the natural organic variations in the wood. It’s amazing, amazing work and we want everyone to have a chance to see it in person. Stay tuned for information on the closing reception for Wolfrule.
